Puppyhood. It’s the best of times – it’s the worst of times.
One moment they are a snuggly ball of fur in your lap. In the next moment all their tiny sharp teeth are latched on to your ankle.
Life with a puppy can be overwhelming, exhausting and confusing. But don’t worry. We will get you through it.
Over six weeks we will show you how to:
- Deal with the biting, chewing, peeing, pooing, jumping and
- Play games with your puppy – games that enable all family
members (adults and children) to positively bond with the puppy
- Install basic skills – sit, down, leave it, come here, calm down
- Teach your puppy to love being handled so that they enjoy nail
trimming, baths, grooming and vet visits
- Introduce your puppy to other dogs, people and new situations
in a positive manner that will build confidence
Our puppy program is open enrollment. This means that each class is a self-contained lesson and you can sign up at anytime for a six week session provided we have available space.
Who should come?
All puppies who will be under 12 weeks of age on the first day of class.
Puppies must have their first round of the DHPP vaccination, as well as their first deworming, at least 10 days before class begins. The bordetella and rabies vaccinations are recommended but not required.
It’s actually imperative you don’t wait till your puppy has all their shots. See the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior Position Statement on Puppy Socialization.) Getting your puppy into puppy class at an early age is essential for building social skills!
